Testimonials

I would recommend STREET HEBREW highly!! Addam is a great teacher. He is understanding of your needs and is very patient. The lessons are very interesting and you are studying/learning words that are tailor-made for YOUR personal needs. You can see the difference from your first lesson! You are left with the feeling that you want to get to your next lesson right away. I have learned and understood more hebrew in my first 10 lessons with Street Hebrew than I ever did with the 3 ulpans I took put together! - Devorah Ohayon

Our class with Street Hebrew is very special.  The learning is great and the lessons are informative and interesting, and we actually learn how to survive and adjust to our new environment. We learn how to understand and deal with some of the situations we run into on a daily basis because of our limited Hebrew. It really helps in the adjustment process. - Sharlene Balter

I have been taking Street Hebrew for a while now, after having tried other ulpan or class situations in the past.  Street Hebrew lessons are adapted to each client’s needs, interests, and abilities rather than being a one-size-fits-all approach.  The teacher makes learning to speak Ivrit practical for daily life; in the supermarket, at the bank, at the doctor’s, on the bus.  In addition, it’s a lot of fun.  The ‘proof is in the pudding’; this morning I was able to speak with an Israeli for fifteen minutes, even though it was by no means perfect.  That is what Street Hebrew is all about; getting the student to the point of being able to conduct ‘life on the street’.  I recommend Street Hebrew highly. - Rachel Robinowitz

I think Street Hebrew is a wonderful and comfortable way of learning everyday Hebrew. I highly recommend the course for every age. The most important thing is to reinforce what we learn with usage. - Shelly Posen

Street Hebrew works. We are given the confidence from the very first lesson and you very soon find yourself speaking Hebrew and enjoying it! - Avraham Lewis

I certainly believe my work together with Street Hebrew had good results! My Hebrew confidence was boosted, and many key words were learned, making it easier for me to communicate in Hebrew.. Working with Street Hebrewalso showed me how learning 10-20 words a week can make such a difference, even if over a short period of time. - Rachel Gurevich

I am absolutely not a language person but I found that I really needed Ivrit for gan and school.  Most staff in schools and ganim don’t seem to speak much, if any English. I did try ulpan, which I think was really good but the time commitment wasn’t working for me with my regular life and then my life got much more complicated and I had to drop out after a month or so.
I put everything on hold but the need for the language didn’t go away, the ostrich method wasn’t working and I was becoming more frustrated as I continued to be unable to communicate with some people I needed to talk to. I had been thinking about Street Hebrew for a while and I finally took the plunge and had my free lesson.  I am now up to lesson 10 and am still going! If you’re struggling with the language and feeling inadequate and ulpan isn’t an option for whatever reason, give Street Hebrew a try. If your reading and writing skills are very bad and it’s holding you back, you can even learn in transliteration. - Devorah Herman

I learned with Street Hebrew twice a week for about 30 lessons. I enjoyed the structure of the lessons as well as the spontaneity that was incorporated by bringing our current lives into the exciting conversations.  Every lesson was personalized for me – sensitive to my strengths and struggles: I especially appreciated the positive feedback and encouragement.  I think I learned so much Hebrew mostly through their method of teaching small segments at a time. Every little segment added up quickly and soon I found myself speaking Hebrew in situations that I wouldn’t have tried to speak in before. - Avraham Sacks

I have been studying in a Street Hebrew group for a year and am enjoying it very much. The Teaching style is patient and empathetic and incorporates loads of good tips. We are learning interesting and relevant topics for us as a senior group of new olim. We are encouraged to tackle subjects such understanding shopping, making doctors appointments, driving instructions, menus in restaurants and recipes, making sense of our bills etc. and many other items that are beginning to allow us to communicate in Hebrew. We learn something new each week. Progress does depend on exposure, practice and willingness to put in a set amount of time during the week. I would strongly recommend you try a course to gain confidence and access to your new language and country of aliyah. I found these classes also helped my understanding of the siddur and chumash. - Jacqui Burnley

I had attended two Ulpan classes which were cancelled due to lack of attendance, was yelled at by a morah to put down my pencil, was bored of the conjugation drilling and overwhelmed by the 5(hours)-5(days)-5(months) program. I hardly ever had time to do the homework.  Most of all, in the end, I still could not speak Hebrew.  Street Hebrew’s fun style and lessons are very practical and get you speaking real Hebrew pretty quickly.  In fact, within a few months I was able to interview for jobs in Hebrew and I got them.  My Hebrew still needs plenty of work but there is no comparison between the frustrated nearly illiterate student just starting out and today’s model. The lessons are designed to be attuned to what the student needs.  Customization is a big forte of the Street Hebrew program. – Dr. Reuven Rosenberg
